I HATE THE BBC.

The BBC are closing down the Science and Nature Message Boards.
This is an act of evil barbarism.
At one time we had a pet message board, then they closed that down and called it Wildlife. It has been a source of endless interest and help for me regarding my cat.
Saving many visits to the Vet.
What a lot of mean people. I despise them.

They make me sick, Rupe, remember all the fanfare when they opened them ?
What are they going to do with the money they save ?

Could it be that the Beeb don't like our comments as they jar somewhat with their personal beliefs? Shurely not!

I have just seen Mark Thompson (I think that is his name) on Newsnight extolling the virtues of the "porousness and accessibity of the BBC. He obviously doesn't have any idea what's afoot with the BBC message boards.

Augustus, the Station board is a different cup of tea than Pet and Wildlife board.

Gildy rescued a dove and looked after it for weeks, he posted photo's showing it's progress, and wrote beautifully every day.

It was compelling and lovely. There was nothing that anyone could complain about.
Hundreds of people were enchanted with this story.

The board was a lifeline for many people living in the middle of nowhere with their pets, and animals.

I could go on and on. There was the odd troll, but it wasn't a problem.
I am completely disgusted and furious that the BBC has shown nothing but total disregard for a lot of people who got innocent company and pleasure from a large group of like minded people.

It's just pathetic.

Curmy, the money they save will doubtless go into the pockets of people like Jonathan Ross.
Who knows? what a bunch of charlatans.

If only they'd be open about what their agenda is. Are all boards to be closed? Or only boards that don't have any sort of clout with the Govt in negotiating the licence fee?

Their boards (and I admit I don't use many of them) are a lifeline for many people; truly a public service paid for by the licence fee.

Sarnia and Rupe, you're right, the Science and Nature boards were lifeline for hundreds of people who couldn't get out, and a place to go and talk about Nature for people that could.
Masses of beautiful photos of wild animals , and chat about all aspects of Nature.
Luckily, as the Beeb axed half the S&N boards last year. many have set up alternate forums, but it's the older person, people that live alone or in isolated parts of the country or ones who aren't very computer savvy who have been left devastated by this.

So I made a message board. It's a bit of an experiment but do try it!

Carrie and DQ and Jack Drake have made it over here so I am cheered by that.
I am morose and absolutely incoherent with rage that they have cut us off so quickly.
I am so upset that I'm popping to bed after swallowing some plls and a lethal cough mixture...see you later.
